In search of a final reinforcement in the midfield, Paris Saint-Germain is about to strike hard by recruiting Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
A €25 million transaction
After Vitinha and Renato Sanches, Paris Saint-Germain are on track to recruit their third midfielder of the summer. Confirming information from Corriere dello Sport, journalist Fabrizio Romano indeed revealed this Sunday that Fabian Ruiz (Naples) is close to joining the capital club!
Considered a benchmark for his position, the 26-year-old Spanish international is courted by many clubs, including Real Madrid, but these stables were targeting him for next summer, free at the end of his contract. Romano explains that the Parisian sports adviser Luis Campos has been ahead of everyone by working on this file for weeks with a view to a transfer from this transfer window.
According to the Italian newspaper, the operation should be concluded for 25 million euros. Napoli’s interest in Keylor Navas, now PSG’s number 2 goalkeeper, may have facilitated things according to the same source, even if the Costa Rican is the subject of separate negotiations.
Not the expected profile, but…
While the track evoked at PSG for the midfielder was a former Ligue 1 player playing abroad and profile athletic, the name of Ruiz may surprise at first sight. With his 1m89, his ability to keep the ball and especially his volume of play, the former Betis Sville is however able to bring more physical density to the Parisian midfield. With, in addition to the recruits, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes and Danilo Pereira, the Parisian coach Christophe Galtier will have a cast of choice for the two central midfielders aligned in his 3-4-1-2. Unless Paredes, in contact with Juventus Turin, and Pereira did not end up imitating Georginio Wijnaldum, who left Rome, and Idrissa Gueye, close to an Everton return.
